A winter outreach effort by SEEDS to support our unhoused and vulnerable neighbors in NYC.
What’s the Purpose?
The Warmth & Growth Initiative is SEEDS’ seasonal outreach program that provides survival kits to people facing harsh winter conditions on the streets of New York City. Each kit includes:
🧣 Winter essentials: gloves, hats, new (packaged) underwear, socks, scarves
🧼 Hygiene items: soap, toothbrush, deodorant, wipes
🍎 Nourishment: snacks, water, comfort food, and gift cards for healthy meals or groceries
✍️ Personal touches: handwritten notes, stickers, messages of encouragement
We prioritize direct relationships over mass distribution — meeting individuals, hearing their stories, and offering care with intention and dignity.
How It Works
🫱 We connect with individuals ahead of time — learning names and needs
🎒 We prepare personalized kits based on what we can collect
🚶 We return later to deliver directly and follow up with respect
This is not a one-time giveaway. It’s a relationship-based effort to plant seeds of healing in people who are often overlooked or dehumanized.
